Once your recruits have been promoted a few times they snap a lot less. If you want em to be effective you have to invest in training and get the companions with a high level and training. Of course recruits die easily, they're unarmoured yokels with blunt swords. Pendor is fine tuned a whole lot more then Perisno and if you don't like something it's pretty easy to change with the tweaks on the Pendor Wiki. Perisno is a lot but it isn't balanced very much at all. What do you guys think? Whats your thoughts?

Pendor is not a bad mod though, but i think some aspects of its balance is overshadowed by its own legacy and praise. After a certain point (considering the low renown gain) you´ll hit a wall in terms of how efficient your leveling up can be, and you need to attack larger and more numerous opponents, which is easier said than done considering the power of unique spawns and some of the AI armies. I think my greatest gripe with Pendor isn´t the difficulty but the tedious nature of it. In Pendor, even massive battles tend to give a meager amount of renown (Fought a battle of 800 vs 1028, still only got 12 renown). In terms of Renown, Perisno is more lenient, a massive battle tend to give 100+ renown which quickly adds to the power of your party. Because in Pendor, if you have a critical mass of archers, you can win any battle. Thats why i say that Perisno is more balanced, you have a greater assortment of infantry units that can counter arrow fire. There are some strong infantry, sure, but they are time and resource heavy if you wanna keep them alive. (Sallying out to face your army while they themselves have a garrision worth of archers, not switching into melee weapons while their loaded bows will drop you the moment you lower your shield to strike, does not help that they actively try to move further away from you) The mod knows of cheap it is. (So, why bother having village recruits in the first place?) The "Strong" meta of the mod really is either archers or horse-archers, and the AI knows this. In Pendor, recruits snap like twigs trying to fight lower tier bandits, the mod basically incentivises you to only hire mercenaries. Giants can soak up huge amounts of damage, leaf-bomb throwers can decimate enemy formations and dwarven crossbowmen can rapid-fire for a short burst. In my honest opinion, i think Perisno is slightly more balanced than Pendor, simply because it gives you more options to deal with battle/sieges in terms of what units you can use but also because some units are not entirely worthless.
